2012 Intel ISEF Affiliated Regional Awards

We have added this feature to our website to aid you in the process of administering all Regional Awards. Our goal is to reduce all paperwork, and by doing so we would like for everything to become electronic. For future years, we ask that you log onto our website http://apps.societyforscience.org/affiliated_fairs/ to retrieve all information and additional links to the particular Regional Award of interest to you.

Please note that the USAF does NOT participate in our Regional Award Organization program. They conduct their own award program and manage that process independently of SSP.

Please register your fair TODAY at http://www.onr.navy.mil/Education-Outreach/K-12-Programs/NSAP.aspx by selecting the Register a Science Fair. Please review the Judges and Presenters section as well. Judges may be provided. All winners must be a U.S. citizen to participate. No monetary awards given at the junior level.

U.S. Army

5:              Regional & State awards

To receive Army awards for your science fair, complete the new on-line registration http://www.usaeop.com/programs/ISEF/index.htm no later than 60 days prior to the date of your fair. If you can not complete the on-line registration please complete and mail the hard copy registration provided in the RAO mailing.  Army personnel may be available to serve as judges and present the Army awards.  Winners must be in grades 9-12. “Prizes/awards subject to availability to funds” questions contact: phampton@aas-world.org

2           Certificates

Representatives from local AMS chapters may be available to serve as judges. Please refer to AMS web site for chapter list: http://www.ametsoc.org/AMSCHAPS/index.html  Winning projects should be limited to the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. A summary of winners should be e-mailed to the AMS sciencefair@ametsoc.org by August 1st.

Association for Women Geoscientists

 

1            Certificate

Complete and return the AWG Acceptance Form by mail or email jvhoney@sbcglobal.net to Valerie Honeycutt within one month after your fair dateLocal members of the Association may be available for judging.  Winner should be female.

National Society of Professional Engineers

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Stockholm Junior Water Prize

3 Regional Certificates and Nominations for the State SJWP Competition

Water Prize certificates are awarded to the high school students displaying the best water-related science projects. Awardees are eligible to participate in the state competition by submitting their research paper on-line http://www.wef.org/sjwp click “Enter Competition” by April 15. Water Environment Federation members may be available to serve as judges.

ASM Materials Education Foundation

1             Certificate & Medallion

The Acceptance Form should be mailed or submitted electronically http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/survey.zgi?p=WEB2287F9M9XFR for the
ASM Materials Education Foundation as soon as possible after the conclusion of the fair to allow for timely follow-up with award recipient.
The Formal Certificate and Medallion will be mailed in July or August.

 

Association for Women Geoscientists

1            Certificate

Complete and return the AWG Acceptance Form by mail or e-mail jvhoney@sbcglobal.net to Valerie Honeycutt within one month after your fair date.  Winner should be female.

American Psychological Association

1 Certificate

APA Acceptance Form to be completed by either the fair director or the award recipient within one month of the completion of the fair. http://www.apa.org/education/k12/science-fairs.aspx  
The Chair of the awards committee or the fair director is asked to fill in the name of the award winner on the certificate and present to the winner at the awards ceremony or awards announcement.  Winner must be entered under the category of Behavioral Sciences.

Broadcom MASTERS

Certificate (provided in separate mailing)

Please complete and present the “Certificate” that will be provided under separate cover to each of the nominated Broadcom MASTERS that are the top 10% of a fair’s 6th to 8th grade participants. A listing of these nominees must be sent to SSP within 30 days of your fair. Then these nominees must complete the Broadcom MASTERS on-line application by June 11 Submitted entries are judged during the summer, and in August, SSP and Broadcom announce the top 300 national semifinalists. From among the semifinalists, 30 students are selected as finalists and win an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, DC to participate in the Broadcom MASTERS Finals. Top award is $25,000.

Intel Excellence in Computer Science
US and US Territory Fairs

1           Certificate & $200.00

Fair Director or Awards Coordinator MUST register the ECS winner online at http://www.societyforscience.org/isef/rao/xpword.asp AND complete the Winner Verification Form included in the RAO mailing. These completed documents: Winner Verification Form, the ECS Certificate and the W9 - Taxpayer Identification Number form MUST then be given to the winner at your awards ceremony. The ECS winner is responsible for returning all documents to Society for Science & the Public by the deadline of May 31. Failure to follow instructions may invalidate award.

Intel Excellence in Computer Science International Fairs

1           Certificate & $200.00

Fair Director or Awards Coordinator MUST register the ECS winner online at http://www.societyforscience.org/isef/rao/xpword.asp AND complete the Winner Verification Form included in the RAO mailing. Mu Alpha Theta

Complete and submit the Mu Alpha Theta Award Acceptance Form within one month after your fair date by mail or by e-mail to matheta@ou.edu.
Affiliated fair judges should use the criteria supplied to select the winner.

National Society of Professional Engineers

1 Certificate & lapel pin

Society for In Vitro Biology

1           Certificate

Please complete the SIVB Award Acceptance Form and return it as promptly as possible after your fair.  Winners must be in 11th grade with an exhibit in the area of plant or animal in vitro biology or tissue culture.

U.S. Metric Association

1            Certificate

As soon after your fair as is convenient, please complete and e-mail one copy of the U.S. Metric Association Acceptance Form to billhooper76@gmail.com or mail to Dr. William Hooper 3350 South Fletcher Ave. Suite M-5. Fernandina Beach, FL 32034

Yale Science and Engineering Association

 

1 Certificate & Medallion

Please complete and present the "Preliminary Certificate" and Award Acceptance instructions to your 11th grade student winner. Please ask that they follow the instructions carefully and note submission deadline.  This must be completed ONLINE www.eng.yale.edu/ScienceFair/Submit no later than May 30.  Winner must be in 11th grade and competing in the Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or Chemistry category.

The Winner Verification & Instructions form along with the completed Certificate should be provided to the student with the authorized fair director's signature.  The student is responsible for registering online and for returning the necessary paperwork needed to complete the process. Society for Science & the Public must receive all submissions by May 31.  Winners must be in grades 9-12.
